New Temari (finally)

I'm on vacation, so I am enjoying some stitching time. I was able to visit Peacock Alley, a needlework shop in Ada, Michigan, that carries Vineyard Silks. I've been wanting to try that fiber ever since reading a review of it on the Temari Challenge Yahoo group.

The silk is lovely and soft, wonderful to work with; but it is not shiny. In fact, I think the pearl cotton is shinier.

This pattern is from my "Special Temari Balls from Nagoya, Japan." It is a very simple s10 pattern, without an obi. I am pleased with how it turned out. Yes, I know I missed a line with my green thread; I already fixed it.

I bought another combination of colors in the silks, and I'm eager to try another temari with those as well; we'll see how busy vacation gets. We are celebrating my father's 80th birthday, and I was hoping all my family was going to be here, but DD and her family cannot make it; I'm suffering some withdrawal symptoms. We will have time to see them next week, though so I will just have to be patient.
